Heavy Reading Operators' Survey: "41% will Deploy PCRF in 12 Months"

Heavy Reading issued a white paper written by Gabriel Brown, sponsored and available at Bridgewater's site (here, requires registration) titled "Control-Plane Scalability & Performance Requirements for 3G & LTE Network".

The main part of the report relates to the recent performance tests performed by ENTAC to the Cisco mobile solution in which Bridgewater provided the PCRF server (see "Bridgewater: "Independent testing demonstrates [our] performance" -- BUT ..!" - here and "Lightreading: Cisco's GGSN DPI Feature Under Test" - here).

Nevertheless, there are also some more general sections, including the results of a survey made on July '10.

One chart (below) shows the operators plans for policy management deployments. According to the survey, 25% of operators already have a PCRF system and 41% plan to deploy one within 12 months.

PCRF vendors (here) - the window is wide open - and will be closed in 2 years!
